September 15th to October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. It’s a time to recognize the contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans, and to celebrate their heritage and culture.
September 15th is chosen as the official starting date because five Latin American countries celebrate their independence on this day – Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico celebrates its independence day on September 16th and Chile celebrates on September 18th.
