Kittens and Mittens at Handley Regional Library

Kittens and Mittens Storytime title card

This week’s storytime theme is kittens and mittens! Here are a few of the stories, poems, and songs that we’ll be sharing this week, so you can keep singing, playing, and reading with your little ones at home.  Don’t forget to sign up for the Winter Reading program – each storytime we’ll be giving out a secret code so you can earn badges for attending programs.  Register online here and pick up your registration packet when you come to the library.

Three Little Kittens

Three little kittens,
They lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear,
We sadly fear
Our mittens we have lost.
What! Lost your mittens,
You naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
You shall have no pie.

The three little kittens,
They found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear,
See here, see here,
Our mittens we have found.
What! Found your mittens,
You darling kittens!
Then you shall have some pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
You shall have some pie.

My Mittens

Mittens for the snow time, (flutter fingers down like snow)
When the world is white,
Mittens for my two hands, (hold up two hands)
Mittens left and right, (wave left hand and then right hand)
Mittens with a thumb place, (thumbs up)
Mittens warm and snug, (hug self as if nice and warm)
Mittens make me feel like
A bug inside a rug. (wrap one hand over the other like a blanket)

Colorful Mittens
Sung to the tune of “Six Little Ducks”

Colorful mittens for me and you
Red ones, yellow ones, blue ones too.
But the one pair of mittens that rhymes with fellow,
They’re my favorite mittens, they’re the color yellow!

Continue with rhymes pairs for each color:
