As February draws to a close, we’re using our extra leap day to celebrate the conclusion of a successful Winter Reading Program.
The Winter Reading Program is designed to help parents, caregivers, and children love books by encouraging them to share them together, and to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge of how much positive impact they can have on their children’s early literacy development.
This year, in addition to partnering with Friends of the Handley Regional library, we also partnered with Chick-fil-A of Pleasant Valley and Rutherford Crossing, who have generously provided incentive prizes for the participating children.
We encourage you to bring the whole family out to join Youth Services Librarians and staff for a special Reading Night Finale on February 29th 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at both Chick-fil-A locations: Pleasant Valley & Rutherford Crossing. (Directions at links.) All children will receive a goody for attending. This is the final event in our month-long collaboration with Chick-fil-A, so if you missed the other events, make sure to come out for this one!
Last week, Chick-fil-A also hosted a Mommy and Me reading event. Stories were provided by Youth Services Librarian Donna Hughes. Families enjoyed participating in crafts, songs, and activities with the Chick-fil-A cow and Miss Donna.
We also had kids mooovin’ and groovin’ with at Handley Library Family Dance Party. Check out the adorableness that is toddler and preschooler dancing here:
In addition to his appearances at Handley and Clarke County Libraries, the cow also rocked out at what one patron called “a toddler rock concert”: Bowman Library’s Preschool storytime.
Have we whetted your appetite for some bovine fun? Join us at Chick-fil-A at Pleasant Valley and Rutherford Crossing Monday, February 29th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. We’ve got some great things prepared for you! Parents, do you have pictures of your kids from these events? We’d love for you to share them with us on Facebook! @handleyregionallibrary
