Storytime fosters more than just reading skills!  We focus on the 5 practices of early literacy with our storytimes at Bowman Library, incorporating Reading, Writing, Talking, Singing, and Playing into the storytime experience.  Because research has found play to be such an important part of a child’s learning process, we provide opportunities for playing in our libraries.  File_002Each week at Toddler Time at Bowman Library, we end our storytimes with free play with blocks and musical instruments.  Not only does this sort of play help with literacy skills, but this also gives children an opportunity to build their physical, emotional, and social skills.  Toys are also available at Handley Library after storytime.

We also have puzzles, puppets, and pop-up books available for in-library use at Handley and Bowman Libraries.
