Books aren’t the only way that Preschoolers learn!  Remember that play is also a critical part of how they learn about the world.  Here are a few of Miss Donna’s favorite games and rhymes to share with Preschoolers.

Open Them, Shut Them

Open them, shut them
Open them, shut them
Give a little clap, clap, clap
Open them, shut them
Open them, shut them
Put them in your la
Creep them, creep them
Creep them, creep them
Right up to your chin
Creep them up to your mouth
But do not put them in!
A-Roosta-Sha Movement Song
A-roosta-sha, a-roosta-sha, a roo-sha-sha (echo)
Thumbs up (echo)

(For each verse, add an extra movement)
Elbows back (echo)
Knees together (echo)
Legs bent (echo)

Head, shoulders, knees, and toes
Knees and toes.
Eyes and ears and mouth and nose.
Head, shoulders, knees, and toes.
Knees and toes.

Two Little Blackbirds

Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill.
One named Jack and one named Jill.
Fly away Jack, fly away Jill.
Come back Jack, come back Jill.

Two little blackbirds flying in the sky.
One named Low and one named High…

Two little blackbirds sitting on a pole.
One named Fast and one named Slow…

Two little blackbirds sitting on a gate…
One named Early and one named Late…

The Wheels on the Bus

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
round and round, round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round and round,
all through the town!

The people on the bus go up and down…
The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep…
The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish…

The mommy on the bus says, I love you.
I love you, I love you
The daddy on the bus says, I love you, too.
All through the town.

Hey! My name is Jo
Hey! My name is Jo
And I work in a button factory
One day my boss came up to me.
He said “Jo, are you busy?”
I said,”No”
He said to “push this button with your right hand”
[make pushing motion with right hand.]

Continue adding body parts that need to push the button (hands, feet, head)

We hope to see you at storytime!
