Snuggle Baby Storytime @ HRL

winter-reading-program-header-2017

During the whole month of February, our Winter Reading Program’s theme is Snuggle With a Book.  One of the major goals of storytime for young children is for them to have positive experiences and memories surrounding books.  There is no better way for them to think of books as a fond memory than to associate books with snuggling with their favorite people.  Here are some of the books, songs, and games we will be sharing in our storytimes this week so you can continue reading, singing, and playing at home:

Books To Share:

You can find these books in HRL’s catalog here: #snugglestorytime

Songs and Poems to Share:

Acka Backa
Acka backa soda cracker,
Acka backa boo.
Acka backa soda cracker,
Up goes you! (lift child in air)

Acka backa soda cracker,
Acka backa boo.
Acka backa soda cracker,
I love you! (hug and kiss child)

The Kissy Game
(Give baby kisses as each body part is mentioned)
Kissy, kissy fingers,
Kissy, kissy toes.
Kissy, kissy baby
On your kissy, kissy nose.
I love to kiss your fingers,
I love to kiss your toes,
I love to kiss my baby,
On (his or her) kissy, kissy nose.

Mama’s Little Baby
(lay baby in front of you)
Mama’s little baby a kiss can blow,
(blow a kiss to baby)
And rub noses just like so.
(rub noses with baby)
Two little hands clap, clap, clap,
(Clap hands with baby)
And ten little toes can tap, tap, tap.
(tap baby’s feet together)

The Kissing Rhyme
Up, up, up in the sky like this, (lift baby up)
Down, down, down for a great big kiss, (bring baby down for a kiss)
Up like this, down like this, (lift baby up and down)
You’re my special baby! (hold baby close and cuddle)

Skidamarink
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

I love you in the morning
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening
And underneath the moon;
Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!
