Join us for a storytime Fiesta!

September 15th to October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. It’s a time to recognize the contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans, and to celebrate their heritage and culture.  Storytimes this week will highlight some of the Hispanic authors, illustrators, and musicians whose work we have available for you to check out.

Here’s a selection of what we’ll be sharing:

Darling, I Love You
Yo te amo, yo te amo
All day long I’ll sing this little song to you.
Yo te amo, yo te amo
Darling I love you!

Je t’aime, Je t’aime
All day long I’ll sing this little song to you.
Je t’aime, Je t’aime
Darling I love you!

I love you, I love you
All day long I’ll sing this little song to you.
I love you, I love you
Darling I love you!

Mi Cuerpo (My Body)
Mi cuerpo, mi cuerpo hace musica
Mi cuerpo, mi cuerpo hace musica
Mis manos hacen (clap, clap, clap)
Mis pies hacen (stomp, stomp, stomp)
Mi boca hace la la la
Mi cuerpo hace cha, cha, cha

My body, my body makes music
My body, my body makes music
My hands say (clap clap clap)
My feet say (stomp stomp stomp)
My mouth says (la la la)
My waist says (cha cha cha!)

All the colors, all the colors,
oh how they dress up the countryside in springtime,
All the colors, all the colors
of birdies, oh how they come back to us outside,
All the colors, all the colors
in rainbows we see shining bright in the sky,

And that’s why a great love of all colors
makes me feel like singing so joyfully,
And that’s why a great love of all colors
makes me feel like singing so joyfully.

El Sol is de Oro
El sol es de oro
La luna es de plata
Y las estrellitas
Son de hoja de lata.

The sun’s a gold medallion. (large circle)
The moon’s a silver ball. (small circle)
The little stars are only tin; (flash fingers)
I love them best of all.  (hug self)
