March Programs for Ages 6 and Up!

Here they are! Our March programs are sure to be a blast! Below are our opportunities for both children 6-11 and teens 12-18 at all branches of the Handley Regional Library.

Bowman Library:

Teen Art – Thursday, March 1st @ 5pm for ages 12-18. This month we’ll further explore acrylic art!

After School Art – Wednesday, March 14th @ 5pm for ages 8-14. Register through the library catalog for our next exciting art activity!

Nature Surprises for Kids – Wednesday, March 21st @ 5pm for children and teens ages 8 and up. This special monthly event is presented by VCE volunteers of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association. This month’s theme is “Nests and Dens” with Mary Turner. Registration is required, so click here to sign up now!


Homeschool Libratory, March 23rdth @ 2pm. This month’s STEM Libratory will explore 3D and depth perception. Registration required and space is limited so register today!

Teen Writer’s Guild will meet Monday, March 5th at 6pm. Submit a book review, write an article about a HRL teen program, send a description and link for a story you’ve written, poetry, artwork, photos, and anything you’d like to share that may be of interest to other teens at any of our library branches. You can be published in our monthly newsletter! Meeting attendance is encouraged but not required to participate. Submit to

Handley Library:

Super Smash Bros Brawl Wii Tournament! – March 24th @ 12pm. Battle it out Super Smash Bros. Brawl style! Controllers and game will be provided. Prices go to the top 3 winners. Registration required through the library catalog.

Stitch a Story – Saturday, March 17th @ 1pm for ages 9 and up, presented by the Winchester Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America and stitchers of the Shenandoah Valley Tapestry project. Supplies are limited so registration is required through the library calendar.

Graphic Novel Club – Monday, March 19th @ 6pm for teens 12-18. Enjoy snacks and chat with fellow DC and Marvel fans, along with Four Color Fantasies of Winchester.

Magic the Gathering Club – Saturdays from 3 to 5pm for all ages. Drop-in Magic the Gathering game. Bring your own cards or use cards provided by the library.

Teen Advisory Board – Monday, March 26th @ 4:30 pm for Handley! Hang out, eat snacks, play games, and share ideas for library programs and displays. Contact Christine Forbes at 540-662-9041 x21.
