 Splish, Splash, Puddles!

Puddles are almost irresistible to children, and we’ll have plenty to play in during Spring!  Enjoy these puddle-themed stories and games together during your breaks from playing outside in the real thing.

Put Your Pants On
Let’s all put our pants on, pants on, pants on,
Let’s all put our pants on, 1, 2, 3.

Repeat with other articles of clothing (socks or tights, shoes, etc.)

Now that we’re all dressed, all dressed, all dressed,
Now that we’re all dressed, let’s go out to play.

Stomping in the Rain
We’re stomping in the rain, (stomp feet)
We’re stomping in the rain,
We can’t go yet,
We must get wet!
We’re stomping in the rain!

We’re splashing in the puddle,
We’re splashing in the puddle,
We can’t go yet,
We must get wet!
We’re splashing in the puddle!

We’re squishing in the mud,
We’re squishing in the mud,
We can’t go yet,
We must get wet!
We’re squishing in the mud!

Other verses can include clapping, hopping, twirling, dancing, etc.

Five Pigs So Squeaky CleanSing it to “Five Green and Speckled Frogs”
Five pink pigs so squeaky clean
Cleanest you’ve ever seen
Wanted to go outside and play
Oink! Oink!
One jumped into the mud
Landed with a great big thud
Then there were four clean squeaky pigs.

Continue until all the pigs have joined in the muddy fun:
And now there are NO clean squeaky pigs!
Oink! Oink!

This is the Way Scarf Song
This is the way we wash our arms,
Wash our arms, wash our arms.
This is the way we wash our arms
When we’re in the bathtub!

Keep scrubbing different body parts – try tummies, toes, nose, and hair!

Rain is Falling Down
Rain is falling down. Splash! (clap)
Rain is falling down. Splash! (clap)
Pitter patter, pitter patter
Rain is falling down. Splash! (clap)

Sun is peeking out. Peek!
Sun is peeking out. Peek!
Peeking here, peeking there,
Sun is peeking out. Peek!

Thunder (Tune: “Frere Jacques”)
I hear thunder. I hear thunder.
(stamp feet on floor)
Hark do you, hark do you?
(place hand behind ear)
Pitter, patter raindrops,
pitter patter raindrops
(Wiggle fingers down)
I’m all wet. (Point to yourself).
So are you. (point to a friend).

Come Under My Umbrella Song
Come under my umbrella, umbrella, umbrella
Come under my umbrella, it’s starting to rain
With thunder and lightning and thunder and lightning
Come under my umbrella, it’s starting to rain.

Shoo Rain Don’t Bother Me
Shoo, rain, don’t bother me . . .
Shoo, rain, don’t bother me . . .
Shoo, rain, don’t bother me . . .
For there’s a rainbow over me.

I splash, I splash, (stomp)
I splash when it’s wet outside.
I splash, I splash, (stomp)
I splash when it’s wet outside.
