Books and Blocks at Bowman Library

IMG_0862Calling all elementary and middle school Lego builders! Join us at Bowman Library in the Children’s room today for a free Lego construction class at 4:00 p.m.  No registration required.  We’ll be working on engineering a Bandstand, in the process exploring architecture, engineering, art, and just plain having fun!

Books and Blocks is a regular event during the summer, each Monday at 4 p.m from June 15th through August 3rd.  We will explore a different design and construction theme each week, so if you can’t join us today, stop in another week!  Upcoming themes include construction sites, baseball fields, fairgrounds, lighthouses, and Alexander Calder’s “stabiles.”

Books and Blocks at Bowman Library!

We had our second installment of Books and Blocks at Bowman Library on October 13, 2014.  Our theme was “Turning Dreams into Reality,” revolving around what people wanted to be when they grew up.  Everyone seemed to have a great time and worked on wonderful representations of their future dreams!

Come join us this Monday, October 20, 2014!

We will be building our masterpieces to commemorate the Battle of Yorktown which occurred on October 19, 1781.

Books and Blocks at Bowman Library!

On October 6, 2014, the Books and Blocks program began at Bowman Library.  This program involves a theme of the week taken from current events and then our young readers can build a LEGO project based on the theme.  The first week the theme was “Crime Scene Investigation.”  The television show, CSI, had a ten year anniversary recently and this theme was to commemorate the event.  Books and Blocks runs every Monday at 4pm at Bowman Library with the last program on November 24, 2014.,

Come hear our theme and use your imagination to build a LEGO masterpiece!
