Picture Book Month

PB Month

Not only is November National Novel Writing Month, it’s also Picture Book Month – a time to celebrate the printed picture book. Picture books are so important especially in our increasingly digital age. There is nothing like turning the page of a picture book – especially when it’s shared with Dad, Mom, Grandma, your brother, your sister, your teacher, a friend… the list is endless!

Picture books are a wonderful first book experience and a great stepping stone into reading, but can also be read and enjoyed by much older readers too. More and more picture books are being published that have an older audience in mind, so they are still a fantastic option even if your child has graduated to those big books with lots of words but no pictures!

The Picture Book month website is full of great information and every day an author, illustrator, librarian or other picture book champion , will be sharing a short essay about why picture books are so important. There are great resources for teachers too.
